All-over printed canvas with leather-look handles.

Navy and white all-over print with leather-look handles.
Tote constructions
- Flat totes: two panels and two handles, the simplest shape for printing and for merch.
- Gusseted totes: a box bottom and side gussets so the bag stands up and carries more, for retail and grocery use.
- Lined totes: a cotton or printed lining, often with an inside pocket.
- Zip-top totes: a zip or a magnetic snap to close the bag.
- Handles: self-fabric, cotton webbing, rope or leather-look straps, at shoulder or hand length.
Shoulder-strap and sling styles are on our shoulder bags page.
Canvas and cotton weights
Canvas is usually described in ounces per square yard and lighter cotton in GSM. Light cotton suits fold-away and promotional bags; mid-weight canvas is the common choice for printed retail totes; heavy canvas gives a bag that keeps its shape. We agree the cloth weight at sampling, along with how the handles are attached and reinforced. Cotton bags are a long-lasting alternative to single-use carriers, as our post on cotton bags for regular use explains.
Printing and embellishment
Screen printing is the most economical for one- to four-colour logos and designs. Digital printing suits photographic and all-over designs. Hand block printing gives an artisan look. We also embroider, add appliqué, tassels and pom-poms, and weave jacquard and yarn-dyed striped cloth for a bag with no print at all. See our printed bags for examples.
Retail, merch and event totes
Retail totes are usually made to sell, with a stronger cloth and a lining. Merch and event totes are made to be given away, so the print and the handle matter more than the inside finish. Our guide on how to design custom tote bags for corporate events covers tech packs, artwork and approvals. Straw and beach styles are covered on our beach bags page, and the wider range on our bags page.
Private label, packaging and MOQ
We sew your woven label or print it inside the bag, add swing tags and barcodes, and pack each bag flat in a polybag or in bulk by colour. The minimum is 100 pieces per style, per colour. Our private label page explains how we work with your brand from sample to shipment.
Duty
The fibre of the bag changes its customs heading, and with it the import duty in some markets. Our article on fabric tote and beach bags from India explains how cotton, canvas and other fibres are treated.
Handles, strength and finishing
A tote is judged by how it carries. We reinforce the handle joins with box or cross stitching, add a webbing tape on heavier bags, and can bind or overlock inside seams so the bag looks neat when it is open. A base board or a bottom gusset helps a retail tote keep its shape on the shelf. For bags that will be printed after making, we choose a flat panel and a smooth cloth so the print sits evenly. Tell us how much the bag needs to carry and we will suggest the cloth, handle and stitching to match.
How an order runs
- Brief: you send photos, a sketch, a tech pack or style numbers from our range, with your target colours and quantities.
- Cloth and artwork development: we choose the canvas or cotton weight, prepare screens or digital files from your artwork, and make strike-offs to check colour and placement.
- Sample approval: we make a sample in the agreed size, cloth and print, you review it, and we revise until you approve.
- Bulk production: cutting, printing or embroidery, stitching, handle attachment and finishing begin once the sample is approved.
- Inspection: we check size, print registration, handle strength and stitching during production and again before packing.
- Packing and export documents: Bags are packed and labelled to your instructions, and we prepare the export paperwork.
