Skirt styles

  • Tiered skirts: gathered tiers in maxi and midi lengths, the best-selling summer shape.
  • Wrap skirts: adjustable, with a tie or a button at the waist.
  • A-line skirts: a clean shape that suits prints and borders.
  • Maxi and mini skirts: the same print can run in both lengths.
  • Sarong skirts: a tied beach wrap that crosses into resortwear.

Fabrics

We make skirts in cotton voile, cotton slub, cotton crepe, viscose, viscose crepe and linen blends. Cotton voile is light and slightly crisp, which suits tiers. Viscose and crepe drape and swing. Linen blends add texture and body. Pleated styles need the right fibre and setting; our article on pleats that hold and pleats that fall out explains what to specify.

Embroidery, print and dye

Skirts are where surface work shows best. We do machine and hand embroidery, eyelet and schiffli borders, hand block printing, screen and digital prints, tie-dye and dip-dye ombre. See our printed skirts and embroidered skirts, and our article on custom embroidery for ladies’ garments for the techniques.

Matching tops and co-ord pairing

A skirt sells better with a top in the same print or a coordinating colour. We cut matching tops from the same fabric lot so the shades agree, and can add a jacquard or embroidered top such as our embroidered cotton jacquard tops. For dresses in the same fabrics, see our ladies dresses page and the ladies garments category.

Sizing and grading

Send your size chart and we grade from it, or ask us to propose one. Waist finish matters most: elastic, drawstring, a flat front with a side zip, or a wrap tie. We check the waist relaxed and stretched, the hip and the length on more than one size before bulk.

MOQ and private label

The minimum is 200 pieces per style, per colour. We sew your brand label, add care labels and swing tags, and pack each skirt folded and bagged or on a hanger. Our minimum order quantity page explains the rules across products.

Waistbands, linings and finishing

The waist decides how a skirt fits and how many sizes it covers. Fully elasticated waists suit tiered and beach skirts and stretch across sizes. Flat waistbands with a side zip give a cleaner line for A-line and tailored skirts. Drawstrings and wrap ties are adjustable and easy to wear. Sheer voile and chiffon skirts need a lining or a half-slip, which we cut from cotton or viscose in a matching shade. Hems can be rolled, blind-stitched, lace-edged or finished with a tassel trim. Tell us the finish at the brief stage and we will price it into the quote.

How an order runs

  1. Brief: you send photos, a sketch, a tech pack or style numbers from our range, with your target colours and quantities.
  2. Fabric and pattern development: we source or develop the fabric, prints and embroidery, and cut the pattern from your size chart or ours.
  3. Sample approval: we make a sample in the agreed fabric, fit and colours, you review it, and we revise until you approve.
  4. Bulk production: cutting, sewing, embroidery or print and finishing begin once the sample, fabric and trims are approved.
  5. Inspection: we check measurements, waist finish, colour and workmanship during production and again before packing.
  6. Packing and export documents: Skirts are packed and labelled to your instructions, and we prepare the export paperwork.
