What European buyers usually order
Southern European buyers tend to order full summer collections of dresses, kaftans and pareos, often for coastal and resort shops. Northern European buyers more often order scarves and accessories. If you sell to island and coastal shops, see our guide for island and resort boutiques.
Import duty in the EU and the UK today
- European Union: the EU and India concluded negotiations on a free trade agreement in January 2026. It is not yet signed or in force, so standard EU import duties apply to shipments from India today. We will update this page when the agreement takes effect.
- United Kingdom: the India–UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement has been in force since July 2026. Qualifying Indian textiles and clothing can enter the UK duty-free when origin is proved. The UK accepts an origin declaration, a certificate of origin, or knowledge held by the importer and backed by documents. Ask your customs broker which proof they want, and we will provide what is needed. For a worked example, see what the India–UK deal changes for dresses.
- Switzerland, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein: the India–EFTA trade agreement has been in force since October 2025. Indian goods may qualify for preferential access, subject to its rules of origin.
Import VAT is charged on top of duty in every European country. Your customs broker can confirm the exact rate for each product.
Duty and VAT by country: United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Greece, Netherlands, and all other countries.
What European buyers usually ask us to plan for
- Labelling: fibre composition and care labels in the language your market needs, with your brand labels and swing tags.
- Print and colour approval: lab dips and strike-offs approved before bulk, so the colours match across a collection.
- Season timing: spring and summer collections are usually sampled in the preceding autumn and winter. Give us your in-store date and we will work back from it.
- Documents: commercial invoice, packing list and, where an agreement needs it, proof of origin.

Common questions
Do you work with small European boutiques as well as brands?
Yes. Our minimum is set per style and per colour, so a boutique can order a small capsule across several styles.
Can you write care and composition labels in my language?
Yes. Send us the wording, or tell us the market, and we will include it on the labels.
Can I use my own designs?
Yes. We make private label goods from your designs, as well as from our own designs and through ODM development.
